Chinese electronics giant Sogou unveils Smart Recording Translator

Regarded as one of most prominent leader and innovators of China electronics and media industry, Sogou Inc., has recently announced the commencement of the sales of one of its appliances. As per reliable sources, this AI-powered portable translation appliance, called the Sogou Smart Recording Translator, has been designed to surmount a wide array of challenges that businesses, journalists, and students face each day.

The latest translation device is the second product in Sogou’s family of translation hardware appliances and follows the successful unveiling of the Sogou Travel Translator in March this year. Sources reveal that the new device supports interpretation, translation, and transcription of both recorded and real-time conversations. Moreover, it allows users to record information in meetings, classes, and other similar occasions, and translates spoken content into the target language at the same time through Sogou’s translation software.

Speaking on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of Sogou, Xiaochuan Wang was quoted stating that the latest translator has been equipped with a dual microphone array that suppresses background noise and offers higher-quality voice recordings compared with the traditional models. He further added that the device is a part of the next-gen portable translation appliances that are being launched in the electronics and media market and the company is delighted to witness robust early demand for the product.

Reportedly, the Smart Recording Translator has the ability to automatically transcribe conversations that users can seamlessly share and edit at a single click of a button. Moreover, the AI-powered device can serve as a personal translator and interpreter for everyone, cite sources. With shipments to consumers starting from Wednesday, the latest translator has reportedly clocked in over 110,000 in pre-orders between May 8-15.

For the record, Sogou has been widely recognized on the global stage as one of the foremost firms partaking in natural language processing (NLP) market. The company had unveiled its machine translation technology at the World Internet Conference in 2016 which turned out to be the first ever instance of simultaneous usage of the technology in a commercial event.
