Ontic buys four aircraft instrument production rights from Flightline

Ontic, a leading player in the aerospace sector and the company behind ‘Extended Life Solutions’ for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) legacy products, has reportedly purchased full production rights for four aircraft instruments from Ultra Electronics subsidiary, Flightline Electronics Inc.

Ultra Electronics is a UK based security company catering to critical detection and control, security, and defense markets, while Flightline is a leading manufacturer of electronic products that are used in defense and aerospace applications globally.

The digital and electro-mechanical instruments are utilized on several military and commercial platforms, with supply into top aircraft operators and manufacturers. These instruments would be produced in the North Carolina based manufacturing facility of Ontic.

Chief Commercial Officer and Vice President of Ontic, Gareth Blackbird stated that the company is thrilled to have finished the acquisition and looks forward to completely transitioning the manufacturing and repairing capability in the next few weeks.

Blackbird further added that the acquired product lines are a perfect fit for the company’s North Carolina facility and the firm looks forward to offering long term support as well as proper supply of cockpit instruments to the company’s customers.

The company’s global legacy focus is aided by production and MRO facilities situated in Chatsworth, California; Plainview: New York; Creedmoor, North Carolina; Cheltenham, UK;  and one in Singapore.

Ontic boasts of more than 46 years of experience in aerospace product manufacturing as well as aftermarket support. The company offers CAAS, TCCA, EASA, DCA, CAAC, FAA Part 145, and 21 OEM support, including serviceable as well as new repairs and spares for more than 7,000 old aircraft parts.

The company’s list of products, either acquired or licensed from big OEMs like Safran, Collins Aerospace, Honeywell, GE Aviation, and Thales, cover every major aircraft system in both military and civil markets.
