Airtel to introduce new benefits to help its low-income subscribers

Indian telecommunication services frontrunner, Bharti Airtel Limited or Airtel, has reportedly announced its intention to offer special benefits to its low-income customers use its network. Apparently, these benefits are worth approximately ?270 crores and are geared towards assisting Airtel users in staying connected during the present pandemic.

Sources reveal that the company would be rolling out the ?49 pack to its eligible customers as a one-time gesture at zero charges. The pack will be launched with a validity of 28 days, comprising ?38 talk time and 100MB of data. The scheme, supposedly, is expected to benefit around 55 million low-income customers of Airtel.

The benefits would likely be made available to the users in the coming week. It has also been announced that Airtel would be offering double benefits on selected recharge plans.

According to an Airtel spokesperson, at this point, there is an increasing requirement among customers for staying connected. In context of this, the purchase of ?79 Recharge Coupon by the Airtel prepaid customers will offer them double benefits whilst making it easy for them to stay connected during difficult times.

If reports are to be believed, Airtel had previously offered similar benefits in the last year for its low-income customers, given the pandemic and lockdowns. Notably, these benefits included the extension of its prepaid validity and ?10 credit, and a few others.

Airtel has also separately unveiled a set of resources to assist its users by coming up with two new subsections in the Airtel Thanks app’s Explore section.

For the record, the first subsection, addressed as Covid SoS, offers verified as well as updated contacts for supplies, including medicines, plasma donors, oxygen, ambulances, testing centers, and hospital beds.

The second subsection, known as Cowin, allows users to find slots at the vaccination centers for allotments for themselves, their friends, and their family.
