DOCOMO to deliver photo album service on an OEM basis in Taiwan

Japan’s leading mobile phone operator NTT DOCOMO Inc has reportedly agreed to provide its photo album service – d photo to Far EasTone Telecommunications Co. on an OEM basis for launch in Taiwan. As per trusted sources, the service is scheduled to be launched as FriDay Pai Pai Ben.

For the record, FET has a customer base comprising of some 7.17 million subscribers that constituted for 27 percent share of the Taiwanese market as of Dec 2018. According to sources familiar with the deal, the arrangements will comprise of the involvement of ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation, major Japanese system integrator, which is slated to design and manage a dedicated application and necessary systems. Additionally, photo album making company Asukanet Co. Ltd will develop and deliver physical photo albums consisting of visual images stored by customers using their FriDay Pai Pai Ben accounts, reported sources.

Reportedly, customers in Japan use DOCOMO’s d photo cloud service to save videos & pictures and print photos to create physical photo albums for a fee of JPY 280 per month, excluding taxes but including shipping charges. This service is exceedingly popular among customers with families including the ones with small children, cited credible sources. Furthermore, DOCOMO has plans to expand its popular service in the Asian market inspired by insights gained from its launch in Taiwan, reported sources.

For the record, NTT DOCOMO has more than 77 million subscribers and is one of the world’s first contributors to 3G, 4G and 5G mobile network technologies. The company’s services go beyond core communications services and challenge new limits through collaborations with new entities. Moreover, the service provider is developing a revolutionary leading-edge 5G network as part of a medium-term plan toward 2020 and beyond to create innovative services that would inspire and amaze customers beyond their expectations.
