WISeKey signs MoUs with Governments of Gibraltar and La Línea

Leading global AI, cybersecurity, IoT, and Blockchain company WISeKey International Holding Ltd has reportedly inked two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Mr. Juan Franco, the Mayor of La Línea de la Concepción, and Mr. Fabian Picardo, the Chief Minister of Gibraltar.

The MoUs were signed for the development of an LLG 4IR Center of Excellence (4th Industrial Revolution Center of Excellence) leading innovation in the region.

The 4th Industrial Revolution is transforming the tech dynamics and chain of value creation along with cross-border collaboration and the method in which firms integrate their R&D to create value for their consumers. New cooperation and business models emerge through the integration of clients as well as business partners.

The joint 4IR Center of Excellence business model is to help inventive startups in areas like Blockchain, AI, IoT, Drones, Quantum, and Cybersecurity to perform collective activities of research and development, facilitate rapid on-boarding, and adaptation of solutions based on 4IR.

In addition, the model helps to promote its tech across the world, encourage stronger partnerships between the private, academic as well as public sectors and collaborate to make sure that the advanced tech standards are accessible in a trusted and safe manner.

The LLG 4IR Center of Excellence will commence operations with the unveiling of WISeSAT Fossa Systems satellites at 2021 end with an earth station situated in La Línea. The aim of this pilot project is to allow the joint center to become a hub for the deployment of IoT cybersecurity satellites along with communication under plans being furthered by Fossa Systems and WISeKey.

Mr. Juan Franco, La Línea Mayor, quoted that the LLG 4IR Center of Excellence will be crucial in boosting the technical skills of the regional employees and getting advanced tech capabilities to achieve the regional digital transformation. The 4IR will also take advantage of the operational performance of WISeKey to allow greater efficiencies as well as substantial cost savings to help reinforce its global leadership in 4iE tech, said Franco.
