Edison donates $1M to California nonprofits for COVID-19 relief

Edison International, a public utility holding company, has recently pledged $1 million to local nonprofit organizations in California. These organizations offer foods, critical services, and other necessities to vulnerable, coronavirus-affected communities in California, where the populations have been quarantined to avoid possible transmission of the disease.

Pedro Pizarro, Edison International’s president & CEO, has stated that the company appreciates all the front liner staff such as first responders, healthcare workers, and local communities who have been working to limit the spread of the virus. The company is committed to ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of the employees and customers and is ready to offer support services during this pandemic.

In addition to the recent charitable donation of the company, it has already announced the donation of $150,000 to the COVID-19 LA County Response Fund of the California Community Foundation as well as $100,000 to each of the following recipient organizations:

  • Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
  • Kings Community Action Organization
  • Foodbank Santa Barbara County
  • San Bernardino County’s Community Action Partnership
  • Orange County’s Community Action Partnership

Community Action Partnership Orange County’s CEO & President, Gregory C. Scott has expressed his appreciation towards the support of its partner, Edison International, as well as the community to reduce the impact and challenges of COVID-19. He added that the company is striving to continuously deliver food and other assistances as well as serve its mission to combat poverty during the pandemic.

Additionally, employees of Edison International, Edison Energy and SCE have joined hands to serve 4 local nonprofits & other organizations catering to communities affected by COVID-19 outbreak, namely:

  • Inland Empire Community Foundation
  • Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
  • Direct Relief
  • Orange County’s Community Action Partnership

This $1 million pledge offered by the company, in an effort to curb COVID-19 spread, will support employee contributions by matching donations up to $250,000. The remaining amount will then be allocated to the community organizations that focus on providing COVID-19 relief measures. These charitable causes of Edison International have been entirely funded by its shareholders.
